Getting A Breast Pump Through BridgeSpan
We are happy to be an in-network provider for patients with BridgSpan health insurance. Our extensive knowledge and experience with billing insurance assures each and every person we work with is in great hands. Our job is to understand the current BridgeSpan insurance fee schedules (what they pay) and with that information, provide specific pump options based on those numbers. Some insurance companies will even allow the mom to select a βdeluxe upgradeβ if she desires something outside of standard coverage. If you qualify for a deluxe upgrade, you will be given a list of those options when itβs time to select your pump. Many breast pump companies out there will limit options to βstandard onlyβ however we feel that having more choices is better! Thatβs the PMSI difference.

-
According to the ACA, all insurance plans are required to cover a breast pump however there are still policies out there that are exceptions to the rule. We'll do our best to help determine your BridgeSpan coverage based on our vast history with many policies.
-
Most insurance providers will allow for one pump per pregnancy, though there are some that will allow for a second pump upon the next calendar year. If you are wanting a second pump, we always suggest contacting your customer service specialist at BridgeSpan insurance company to inquire about your options.

Most insurance companies will cover what's called a "consumer-grade electric breast pump". This is a pump designed to be used by one mom and is purchased for the patient rather than rented. Examples of this type of pump would be Spectra S2, Medela Pump in Style with Maxflow, etc.
-
Some policies require a prescription for a pump and some don't. We'll let you know if your BridgeSpan policy needs anything extra and will assist in providing forms to make it faster and easier for everyone!

When can I order a breast pump? Each insurance provider determines when a mom can receive her pump, though customarily it's universally covered up to one year postpartum. You may apply for a pump at any time during your pregnancy and we will supply the pump according to your provider's specifications. For example, Kaiser Permanente of WA allows a mom to receive her pump up to 30 days prior to expected delivery date.
